Jess

I love Weston for a swim at its stunning beach, a cool walk through Weston Woods, and the amazing, creative, & funny folk who live here!

I grew up in West Wales, and moved to Weston to go to university, where I studied Performing Arts with a focus on theatre-making.  I’m always blown away by the passionate creative community here. Working for Culture Weston, you’ll find me getting stuck in on the ground at our awe-inspiring events, supporting local artists with producing new work, noodling away behind a lighting desk, or supporting the running of the organisation with the financial operations. I feel so lucky to be part of the ever-expanding artistic world of Weston.

I have an amazing & ever-growing network of hard working and talented artists making theatre & comedy in Weston, who I support with bringing their creative visions to a reality.

My main passion is to produce new work coming out of the area. I produce Weston’s monthly sell-out cabaret show ‘From The Mud’, which sees local early-career artists throwing themselves up on stage month after month to show you the wacky and the wonderful! We produce new, original, short-form poetry, comedy, music & theatre every month. I also work closely with Front Room WsM, Weston’s only fringe theatre venue, which provides local artists with a home to present & create work, & brings exciting and innovative theatre right to the heart of Weston-super-Mare
