Vaivén Circo – ESENCIAL
ESENCIAL invites the audience to join them on an adventure of imagination with a set inspired by the famous children’s toy ‘Waldorf’s Rainbow’. The scenography is poetic, creating a magical atmosphere, working with balance and subtleties that can make harmony turn into chaos in an instant.
Five performers leap, dive, dance, and juggle through a puzzle-like world of pillars and arches that constantly unfolds into new possibilities. An architecture that is evolving and able to reinvent itself, in the same way human beings seek progress. With infectious energy and humour, they use world-class acrobatics to create a mesmerizing story of collaboration and creative problem-solving.
About Vaivén Circo
Vaivén Circo was created in 2008, combining circus, dance and physical theatre, aiming to reach high level of technical skills while telling a story through elegance and movement’s harmony. “Esencial” is their fifth production, premiered in April 2019 and performed more than 150 times. The company visited the following festivals in Europe; TRAPEZI (Spain), CIRCADA (Spain), Fira Tarréga (Spain), International Kulturbörse Freiburg (Germany), Kleines Fest Hannover (Germany), Festival Panoptikum (Germany), Festival Au Bonheur Des Momes (France), International Children’s Theatre Festival in Sibenik (Croatia), Greenwich Children’s Theatre Festival in London (UK), Festival Out There Great Yarmouth (UK), and in 2023 they performed at BAM Brooklyn, TOHU in Montreal and at International Arts Carnival (IAC2023) in Hong Kong.
For this show, the Artistic Director of the company, Miguel Moreno “Bolo”, awarded National Circus Prize 2016, collaborated with Javier Parra on direction and Jokin Oregi, awarded National Children and Young people’s Theatre Prize 2018 with his company Marie de Jongh, on theatre staging.
