UNBROKEN by Nikki Rummer

Presented by Super Culture

A powerful solo performance & one-woman show that brings a whole family to life.

Presented with the Rural Touring Dance Initiative (RTDI) and The Place, London to bring outstanding dance work out of cities.

Warning: Unbroken contains references to sexual abuse and domestic violence.

Unbroken is the debut solo performance and one-woman show about family, betrayal and the freedom to stand alone, created and performed by award-winning physical theatre and circus artist, Nikki Rummer.

Nikki is one half of the duo Nikki & JD whose show Knot has toured extensively nationally and internationally since 2016, including an award-winning Edinburgh Fringe run and rural touring with the Rural Touring Dance Initiative (RTDI).

One bittersweet Christmas, three generations of the Rummer family are summoned home for one last gathering. Told through the eyes of a daughter, Unbroken weaves fragments of memories into the body of one performer as a dark, previously buried secret finds its way to the surface.

Combining her talent for storytelling and her unique movement language inspired by her acrobatics, gymnastics and capoeira practice, Nikki tells a very personal story with universal resonance.

Unbroken comes to Weston-super-Mare as part of a new associate venue programme announced this year by the Rural Touring Dance Initiative (RTDI).

Weston College is one of 9 venues across the country to pilot the programme connecting them to a network of dance programmers & artists, enabling bold and diverse dance work to be presented and new audiences for dance developed across the UK. The initiative is supported by Super Culture.

Time: Doors open at 6.30pm, performance begins at 7pm.

Show duration: 60 min (no interval).

Please Note: Please arrive by 6.45pm at the main reception area to be escorted to the Berkoff Studio theatre. A donations-bar will be available for drinks before the show.

Age guidance:  16+
