55: A Dance Duet For The Two Ends of Life – Stacked Wonky

A dance duet for the two ends of life, featuring Gerard Bell and Ernie Shorten from the arts organisation Stacked Wonky.
Ernie is 19, Gerard is 74: there are 55 years between them.

They met when Ernie was just 6 years old.
Ernie says, “I wanted to begin my choreographic journey with a performer I know well and feel respect for. That’s why I asked Gerard. The duet touches upon what Gerard knows and I don’t; what I have and Gerard has lost; and what we both hold in common. I wanted to push past sentimental imagery. I’m imprisoned by my age, wild with a constant onslaught of emotions and pressure to be something in the future. He has his own version of this.”

What started as an unlikely friendship has become an extraordinary act of trust and shared understanding, danced out loud.
