Rhyme Against the Tide #16

It’s the first Rhyme Against the Tide of 2026 – The funnest and friendliest poetry slam in Weston-super-Mare!

Join the event for the usual slam of wordy words, plus a winner’s set from Beth Calverley and a guest performance from Manganaro. This slam is shaping up to be extra special!

Did you know? You don’t have to live in Weston to take part in the slam. RATT have had poets from across North Somerset, Bristol and Gloucester, hey, they’ve even had someone come all the way from the big smoke!

Wanna have a go? The slam is open to poets of all levels – this could be your first time ever performing a poem! You could perform a funny poem, an emotional poem, an angry poem, a poem combining all of these things – we simply ask for no derogatory language (swearing is fine!) and no kicking down. Get in-touch with Sophie via rattslam0@gmail.com if you’d like to get involved!

Rhyme against the Tide
RATT slam was established in September 2021 by Sophie Shepherd who still runs it to this very day. Poets take to the stage with just 3 minutes per poem to captivate the crowd and win over three randomly chosen judges from the audience. Make it to the final round, and you’ll battle it out in a poetic showdown to claim the title of Rhyme Against the Tide Champion!
