Green Futures: Your Dream Green Future

“Without leaps of imagination or dreaming, we lose the excitement of possibilities. Dreaming, after all, is a form of planning.” – Gloria Steinem

Your Dream Green Future is a creative imagining project led by Shandin Rickard-Hughes; founder of (re)Generation Weston a new community group promoting, enabling and empowering climate/environmental action.

The project encourages and engages the imaginations of local people to dream of a green future through envisioning, sharing and ultimately taking action toward their ideal green future.

The resulting digital exhibit “We’re dreaming of a green future”  features stories from North Somerset residents describing their dreams for a greener, fairer, better future, intertwined with artworks by Weston artist Susannah Crook who works with the earth to create images inspired by the earth including using  natural pigments.

Shandin suggests that “the future is not set, at any time we have many possible futures awaiting us, awaiting the decisions and actions that make them ‘come true’. I want to inspire and empower people to put aside what they are told will happen and what they think might happen, and instead to dream of what they want to be, do and see in day-to-day life. I then want them to plan for that dreamy, sustainable future to be the future they create for our community and our children.”
