Good Grief Weston 2026: Launch Event Music to Die For

Join us for the official launch of Good Grief Weston 2026. Come and raise a toast, pick up a brochure and meet some of the people behind the Festival. 

We’ll hear from Lucy Selman, Founding Director of Good Grief Festival and Professor of Palliative and End of Life Care at the University of Bristol; Fiona Matthews, Creative Director of Super Culture; and David Moss, whose work with NHS Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire Integrated Care Board helped fund this year’s Good Grief Weston festival.

At 7.30pm, we’ll dive into an evening of music, stories and memories with Music to Die For, a powerful project exploring how music helps us to love deeply, grieve fully, and live a meaningful life. Inspired by their own experiences of bereavement, clinical psychologist Hazel Harrison and Philippa Anders, Director of the Music Programme at Britten Pears Arts, ask people from around the world a simple question: can you share a piece of music and tell us how it connects you to someone you’ve lost?

The online platform they’ve created has grown into a living archive of stories of love, loss and joy. It celebrates how music can support us in grief, honouring people who have shaped who we are and helping us find hope and meaning through life’s hardest moments.

In this event, Hazel and Philippa will share some of the stories that have moved them most, and what they have learnt from the project. There’ll also be a chance to chat informally about your own experiences of music and memory.

Music can say what words cannot. Join us for an intimate evening of sharing and listening.
