Good Grief Weston – Love Letters to My Skeleton with Laura Eliott

Suitable for all ages over 16 years

Skeletons are so often symbolic of death, that it’s easy to lose a true appreciation of the amazing skeleton that supports us in our everyday lives.  In culture, skeletons are often characters which admonish and frighten us mortals and it can be hard to separate the unconscious negative feelings which we may layer onto the vision of a skeleton. Taking a light-hearted approach to exploring our incredible skeletal structure, this session will use drawing, writing, meditation and movement to engender curiosity and allow for reflection as we go. We will explore the puzzle pieces of bones and reflect on our own skeleton in a context of gratitude and admiration rather than fear.

About the artist: Laura Elliott is a multidisciplinary artist and creative facilitator playfully exploring the relationship we have with ourselves and what it means to be on this journey we call ‘life’. With a background in illustration, graphic design, comics, and performance, she loves combining these elements to create workshops which use a light-hearted approach to help people contemplate deep questions. Laura co-hosts the online workshop series Life Handover which helps participants with the thought-work required to put their end-of-life affairs in order. She also works as an associate artist with Brass Bathtub CIC on the project 100 Ways To Say Goodbye.
