Eden – Artist Liaison at Whirligig

My name is Eden, and my pronouns are she/her, and I am 17 years old.
I live in Banwell and am currently on the UAL Extended Dimploma in Art, Design and Communication course at Weston College.
I worked as an Artist Liaison/Festival Runner at Whirligig Outdoor Arts Festival. This involved helping the festival runners to run the event smoothly by setting up and packing away equipment, welcoming the visiting companies and artists, and setting up the dressing rooms.
We met with the team before the event, so everyone knew what their role was. There was open communication within the team so I could easily get help when I needed it. At the end of the event, we all got together to celebrate its success, and we were given informal feedback.
I enjoyed being immersed in a creative environment. There were so many different people with different talents and that was very inspiring and fun to see. I learned the most from being thrown into the tasks. It made me stay organised and on time with everything I needed to do. None of the tasks were difficult, they just required a level of organisation. I’ve gained more confidence in a professional environment.
My next step is university. I’ve applied to study Textile Design.
