Climate Carnival Arts Workshops

Come together for Weston’s Climate Carnival to show solidarity for climate action and shine a light on how creativity and community can play their part in spreading a positive message for a sustainable and hopeful future world. This year we will be celebrating what connects us and how we can work together to make change.

The Climate Carnival leaves from Tropicana at 11am on Saturday September 9th.

The community-led procession parades down the seafront with a kaleidoscopic display of environmentally-themed carnival arts finishing at Whirligig at the Italian Gardens at 12pm.

Spectacles will include carnival outfits, music, protest posters, sea creatures, bugs and more – all created out of reused materials and made at Climate Workshops led by local artists throughout the summer, with the theme of Climate Justice at the forefront of everyone’s mind.

Throughout the Summer we will be holding Climate Carnival Arts workshops.

Climate Carnival Arts Workshops

Workshop sessions that creatively explore environmental topics and sustainable themes, using reclaimed, re-used, ethically sourced materials to create spectacular flags, banners, costumes, headdresses, props, instruments for the climate carnival.

An opportunity for the wider Weston community to create together, whilst debating ideas, developing wider perspectives and creative solutions to action on climate change.

The sessions will be facilitated by local artists alongside larger-scale carnival workshops to work towards the climate carnival and procession event, when you can join in and party along in a finale filled with music and spectacle on September 9th.

These free community art workshops for all ages take place throughout summer: Come along to just one workshop or all of them; the choice is yours.
