Beneath the Grief

What lies beneath grief? Stories of love, loss, conflict and remembrance.

 Beneath the Grief is a script-in-hand work-in-progress production combining theatre, movement, spoken word and live music. Through monologues, duets and ensemble scenes, stories of loss, love, longing, guilt, conflict and remembrance reveal the many dimensions of grief.

Drawing on African, Caribbean and multicultural experiences, the production explores how grief is shaped by family, faith, community, cultural identity and funeral traditions. Grief seeks solace whilst being pulled back by guilt, shame and confusion in an evocative sequence combining physical theatre, movement and live music.

An intimate and thought-provoking performance, followed by a Q&A with the creative team hosted by Sandra Gordon MBE.
