Throughout Summer 2022
Weston Photography Open
Culture Weston is calling out for keen photographers in Weston and beyond to submit photographs of Weston-super-Mare for a town-wide exhibition celebrating Weston’s weather, landscape, people and beachlife.
‘Weston Photography Open’ aims to represent the colourful nature of the town and its unique landscape in a vibrant exhibition of eclectic images taken by both local residents and visitors, that showcases people’s take on the town as seen through the camera lens.
Everyone with a passion for photography is welcome to take part, from happy snappers, enthusiasts, students and young people to amateur and professional photographers.
The Photography Open includes the following categories:
Beach life – photos from the coast
Street life – photos from around the town
Green life – photos from nature
It’s a dog’s life – photos of your canine friends
It’s a kid’s life – photos taken by the under 18s
Audiences will be asked to choose their favourite ‘People’s Choice’ image, with the winner from each category receiving a prize.
All the photographs submitted will be exhibited later in the summer in town centre locations – more details to follow at superculture.org.uk.
To apply, people need to complete and upload images to THIS ONLINE FORM.
Each person needs to select their chosen category/categories and can submit a maximum of 3 images in total.
Applications need to be received by midnight on Sunday 7 August.
All photographs submitted that fulfil the category brief will be included in the open exhibition and displayed in different sizes and formats at the discretion of the organisers. By submitting images to the Weston Photography Open, people are agreeing to have their work shown in public and digital spaces with the copyright of the photographs belonging to the photographer.
This project has been supported by Arts Council England, North Somerset Council and Weston-super-Mare Town Council and has been developed by the SEE MONSTER Think Tank community initiative.
