Speakeasy Online Poetry Evening

Hosted by The Write Box, the June Speakeasy – our 18th!! – is an exciting special event, featuring Rosie Jackson.

ROSIE JACKSON is a poet and creative writing tutor recently moved to Devon after many years in Frome. She is on the team of Poetry Teignmouth and runs many workshops in UK and in Cortijo Romero, Spain. She enjoys collaborating with other writers, artists, film-makers and photographers. We are excited that she will be joining us as featured poet at Speakeasy to read from her latest wonderful collection, Love Leans over the Table, which was launched by Two Rivers Press in April so comes to us hot off the press.

Her previous recent poetry collections are: Light Makes it Easy (Indigo Dreams, 2022), Aloneness is a Many-headed Bird (with Dawn Gorman, Hedgehog Press, 2020), Two Girls and a Beehive: Poems about Stanley Spencer and Hilda Carline (co-written with Graham Burchell, Two Rivers Press, 2020) and The Light Box (Cultured Llama, 2016).

Rosie won 1st prize Teignmouth 2021, 3rd Prize Kent and Sussex 2022, 1st Prize Poetry Space 2019, 1st Prize Wells 2018, 2nd Prize Torbay 2018, 1st Prize Stanley Spencer Competition 2017, and numerous other awards. She is widely published in journals and anthologies, including Acumen, Alchemy Spoon, Ambit, Finished Creatures, Frogmore Papers, High Window, Poetry Ireland Review, Poetry Salzburg Review, Scintilla, Tears in the Fence, The Interpreter’s House.

Rosie’s books of prose include Fantasy: The Literature of Subversion; Frieda Lawrence; The Eye of the Buddha (fiction); Mothers Who Leave; and The Glass Mother: A Memoir (Unthank Books, 2016).
