Join North Somerset libraries at the Healthy Living Centre (main hall) for an introduction to writing with local facilitator Melanie Ashworth. Explore your reasons for writing, how to build ​a character and have a go at writing ​a short scene under the guidance of Mel.

About the Facilitator
Melanie has been a resident of Weston for over fifty years. At school her favourite subject was English and she has been blessed to have gone on to teach this. She has journaled for over thirty years and is now writing her life story. Poetry and prose, theatre and spoken word have all played a significant role in her huge passion for art and literature. Whether hosting a small intimate poetry group in her front room or arranging a theatre trip for young people as a first time experience, Melanie is known for her enthusiasm and extraordinary ability to inspire others to ‘have a go..’! She believes that we all have a story to tell, that it is never too late to tell it and that often the journey to telling it is equally important as the telling of it. Her roots stretch from Yorkshire, Somerset and Nigeria with a pinch of Spain. She brings authenticity and humour to all she does.
