Weston Lit Fest: Mountain Music by Little Bulb
You are invited on a journey of musical migration to the birth of what’s now called Country Music. Featuring sumptuous three-part harmonies and a foot stomping five-piece string band, Mountain Music, written and devised by Olivier Award-winning Little Bulb and co-produced by Farnham Maltings, charts the journey of Celtic folk music over 300 years as it moves from the UK and Ireland to America. A time when music lived through community sharing and offered a vital connection to the family they had left behind.
When settlers from the British Isles came to live in the Appalachian Mountains, they brought with them the invisible baggage of songs and reels from the old country. In this unique theatre spectacle, Little Bulb (seasoned community tourers Alexander Scott, Clare Beresford and Dominic Conway) create an unforgettable tapestry of culture, migration and history, exploring the roots of Americana and its impact on popular music today. There’s an interval and a rocking second act gig featuring surprise ‘guests’.
This unique storytelling musical show previously toured to village halls and community centres across the UK in 2019.
Weston Lit Fest is produced in partnership with Weston-super-Mare Town Council and The Write Box.
