Grow Feral, Taste Feral: Community Allotment Open Day and Cook-Up! with Sam Francis and the Osprey Outdoors community at Clark’s Field allotments

Osprey Community Allotment volunteers have been busy all year establishing the site using permaculture principles, growing familiar British fruit and vegetables, and developing a polytunnel called ‘Bato Kunku’ (Gambian for ‘farm by the sea’), growing produce that originates from outside the UK.

Embark on a sensory tour of the community allotment site with its cottage garden and orchards in full bloom, and sample some delicious homegrown produce cooked up by Weston’s Loves Cafe using a clay oven specially made for the event by local people and potter Rachel Baker.

Also on offer are a host of creative activities using natural materials found on the allotment including willow weaving, plant print-making, poetry creation and make-your-own herbal tea-bags. Pick up artist designed recipe cards and get involved in tongue-in-cheek vegetable judging (bring yours along!).…. be surprised by the many delights that can emerge from a flourishing allotment garden.

Produced by Theatre Orchard, and led by artist Sam Francis. Presented as part of Heritage Open Days: Edible England and the Weston Arts + Health Week.

Drop-in and free of charge.
