Submissions invited from young people to feature in a new public exhibition exploring love, loss, memory and connection
28 May 2026
What matters most to you? What people, places or things have you loved and lost?
As part of this year’s Good Grief Weston festival, we’re inviting young people across Weston-super-Mare to share drawings, photographs, poems and stories that respond creatively to this question. Selected submissions will feature in a new public exhibition exploring love, loss, memory and connection, which will take place during the festival in October this year.
Your response could be about:
- a person, place or memory
- something you’ve lost
- an object you treasure
- a moment you want to hold onto
- an experience that changed you
You can respond in any creative format, including:
- drawing or painting
- photography
- poetry or creative writing
- comics or illustration
- collage or mixed media
- film, animation or audio
There is no right or wrong way to take part — we simply want to hear what’s important to you and create space for you to share experiences, ideas and reflections with your community.
To kick off the conversation, Bristol-based artist Jayde Perkin has collaborated with creative producer Isis Blake on this one-of-a-kind comic, which will also feature in the exhibition. Read about Isis’ last grief exhibition here

We can’t wait to see what you create!
