Grove Park Gathering

Presented by Super Culture with We Made That

Come along to a free family-friendly event – the ‘Grove Park Gathering’ – in Grove Park on Saturday 1 June between noon and 4pm.

Grove Park Gathering is part of a series of engagement events hosted by We Made That, in collaboration with Super Culture, to help shape the Weston-super-Mare improvement projects that are part of North Somerset Council’s Levelling Up Fund programme.

There will be a variety of imaginative activities for people to take part in to help get creative ideas flowing in informal, fun and inclusive ways, including:

  • a drop-in creative session, with Ramona Bigwood, aimed at children, young people and their families to imagine what might be possible in Grove Park through drawing, crafting, model making and play.
  • a drop in poetry and spoken word area with local poet, Sophie Shepherd
  • ‘Colours of Weston’, where Ronnie Houselander will be engaging people in conversations about the emotions/feelings that colours communicate to them in relation to Weston

Sprout Café will also be serving up delicious Middle Eastern food with Global Kitchen and live music by will be performed by Syrian Oud player, Rihab Azar, on the bandstand during the event.

The event is free – no need to book, just turn up on the day.

North Somerset Council has appointed a team led by architecture practice We Made That to design solutions for three improvement projects in Weston-super-Mare. These are: Grove Park, Marine Lake and ‘wayfinding’, encouraging people to move around the town centre and seafront.

These projects have been made possible thanks to the council’s successful bid for £20 million from the UK government’s Levelling Up Fund. This is part of North Somerset Council’s ambitious placemaking vision for Weston.

We Made That, in collaboration with Super Culture, will host a series of engagement events to give local people, community groups and organisations the opportunity to get involved and help to shape proposed designs.

People will also have an opportunity to find out more about the Levelling Up Fund programme in Weston and share memories, stories and experiences of Grove Park, Marine Lake and the town centre.

We look forward to seeing you.
