The Coast Comes Alive: Weston welcomes a weekend of free and affordable arts activities this June
Get ready: This weekend (Friday, June 6th to Sunday, June 8th) Weston-super-Mare becomes home to over 30 free and affordable arts events.
We have programmed a weekend where you can dive into everything from international street theatre, captivating film screenings and hilarious Catalan clowning mayhem.
Whirligig! International Festival of Outdoor Arts

Pack a picnic and head over! Our award-winning, flagship festival is back in Weston-super-Mare, bringing an outstanding programme of international outdoor arts to the coast. This year, the festival takes over new, exciting locations that link the town with the seafront, promising an extra splash of vibrancy and fun for everyone to enjoy.
The two-day event features 16 artists and companies, including family-friendly performances from leading circus companies like NoFit State, Farm Yard Circus, and Gracie B. Get ready to be challenged by ‘Born to Protest’ from Joseph Toonga and Just Us Dance Theatre, or be transported by a one-of-a-kind, highly contagious musical act offering a world of dance, comedy, and outstanding entertainment.

Get ready for a wild ride. Los Galindos, the Catalan clowning mavericks, are bringing their brand new, internationally acclaimed show, ‘MDR: Death By Laughter’, to Weston-super-Mare.
Prepare to witness the bizarre tale of Rossinyol, Mardi, and Melon – three clowns entangled in an improbable crime, a suspicious trial, and an absurd punishment. Watch as friendship takes a dark and hilarious turn in this truly unique production from the award-winning company, Los Galindos. This is a show that promises to both disturb and entertain.

Promenade: Visual Arts Exploring Weston’s Coastal Landscape,
Thursday 5 – Saturday 8 June

Visual arts are set to take over key locations across Weston, as Promenade brings a vibrant programme of local art commissions, activities, and events. This exciting strand explores place, environment, and the natural world through multidisciplinary contemporary arts and socially engaged practice.
Rooted in Weston’s unique coastal landscape, Promenade celebrates the seafront with location-specific artworks, hands-on workshops, music & performance, guided walks & talks, and engaging happenings & interventions along the promenade.
A highlight includes five new micro-commissions showcasing newly developed work from talented South West early-career artists: Chloe Walker, Simon Hamlyn, Caitlin Dawkes and Simone Marconi. These commissioned artists will present compelling new artworks that delve into Weston’s coastline using a diverse range of disciplines, including movement, sculpture, natural materials, textiles, sound, and animation.
Promenade proudly complements ‘Sea Like a Mirror,’ a major touring programme commissioned by Cement Fields to mark the 200th anniversary of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI).
