Take Five: Weston Arts + Health Festival

Save the date!  Weston Arts + Health Festival is back on the beach and at the hospital from 10-12 July… for a seventh year.

The Weston Arts + Health Festival launched in 2020 when two hospital trusts joined to form University Hospitals Bristol & Weston NHS Foundation Trust (UHBW).  UHBW is part of the Bristol NHS Group, a partnership with North Bristol NHS Trust.  The Festival, which is led by the Arts Programme at UHBW and Super Culture, shines a light on Weston’s rich creative and community assets, highlighting how they can support health and wellbeing throughout the year.  Designed for both NHS staff and the wider community, the programme takes place at the hospital and out in communities, culminating in a joyful weekend on the beach that connects people to each other and to new activities.

Evidence suggests that there are 5 steps you can take to improve your mental health and wellbeing:  Connect with other people; Be physically active; Learn new skills; Give to others;  Pay attention to the present moment.   This year our festival focuses on the theme of ‘Connect’, and the programme is jam-packed with activities and events that will help you connect to your own potential – as well as to your place and its people –  in the most magical of ways!   

Delivered with many different partners from the town, highlights across the weekend will include themed walks, live music, giant puzzles on the beach, a range of arts & crafts activities, The Poetry Machine, cooking sessions, a giant community flag parade, dancing with the Bird Rave!, kite-making and flying, swimming, yoga, sound bathing and much more besides.  With free tea and coffee on tap, a relaxed sensory area, comfortable sofas on the sand and a collective Sunday Brunch cooked up by Global Kitchen …. we hope there’s something delicious for everyone to enjoy.
