Super Culture General Manager

Super Culture are looking for an organised, dynamic and process-driven individual with a good eye for detail to come on board as our new General Manager. We are seeking someone with a strong administrative skillset who shares our passion for North Somerset and the transformative potential of arts and culture in our communities. 

Terms of Employment 

Salary: £34,000 FTE. Pro Rata £20,400 for 3 days per week 22.5 hours per week

Contract: Fixed term, 12 months (with potential of extension)

Probationary period 3 months

Place of work Grove Lodge, Grove Park, Weston-super-Mare, BS23 2QJ.               

We operate flexible and hybrid working but there is an expectation that you will work from the office a minimum of 1 day per week. In weeks leading to up to, and during, our festivals and events, increased in-person working will be required.

Holiday entitlement: 25 days holiday entitlement plus bank holidays Pro Rata. 

Benefits: Super Culture are piloting rest week closure w/c 4th August and have an annual office closure between Christmas and New Year (non deductible from annual leave). In addition to this, you would also be entitled to 6 CAP hours (Cause, Applause, Pause) through this scheme, you would be encouraged to spend time exploring your interests and hobbies during working hours as agreed with your line manager.

Person Specification:

Here are some of the skills and experiences that we are looking for:

Essential: 

  • Experience of company administration 
  • Experience of financial management including book-keeping, budgets, cashflow and accounts 
  • Excellent written, verbal communication and numeracy skills. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with a range of people 
  • Strong IT skills (we use Xero accounting package)
  • Knowledge of HR processes including working with freelancers and temporary company members 
  • Ability to negotiate, problem solve and be a solutions-focused team member who likes a challenge 

Desirable:

  • Experience of VAT accounting/returns, payroll and pensions
  • Experience of supporting a company Board including preparation of board papers, reports and minutes
  • Experience of project monitoring and evaluation
  • Experience of statutory reporting to Companies House & HMRC 
  • Experience of current Arts Council England NPO reporting procedure 
  • Knowledge of Arts Council England ‘Investment Principles’ 
  • Knowledge of Data Protection legislation
